TALLAHASSEE, Fla.– Last month’s trade and business development mission to the Paris Air Show resulted in $151 million in total projected export sales for 17 Florida aerospace & aviation and defense & homeland security businesses and organizations. While Governor Scott was at the Air Show, he announced more than 350 new jobs from theaerospace & aviationanddefense & homeland securityindustries in Florida.
Governor Scott said, “I am thrilled to announce the 17 Florida companies that attended the business development mission have reported $151 million in total projected export sales from the Paris Air Show. Florida is the number one place to do business, and the aerospace and aviation industry is a key component to our state’s success. Overall, Florida businesses have created nearly 900,000 private-sector jobs in just four and a half years, and we will continue to work hard to grow businesses and create opportunities for our families.”
The following are details on the jobs announcements made by Governor Scott in Paris:
EFI president & CEO Bill Johnson said, “It’s no surprise that the Paris Air Show yielded exceptional results because Governor Scott has worked to create a pro-business climate in Florida and we have the best international trade and development team in the business.Florida is ranked #1in the U.S. for aviation manufacturing attractiveness for the second year in a row. Opportunities like the Paris Air Show allow EFI to help companies expand and diversify through international trade. I congratulate these companies on their success at the trade show.”
2015年的巴黎航展是最大的tory of the event, with more than 2,300 exhibitors from 48 countries, and 351,000 visitors. Florida was once again the largest state exhibitor and had the largest presence of all exhibitors in the U.S. International Pavilion. Governor Scott, EFI president & CEO Bill Johnson, and EFI leadership also met with more than 60 industry leading companies to share Florida’s business story and competitive advantages.
The participating Florida companies and organizations included:
Elena de la Torre, President of Future Metals, said, “The trade mission with Enterprise Florida was a great success for a small, family/woman-owned business. The attention, help, resources and meetings (both one-on-one and with companies) arranged by the Enterprise Florida team worked great and were very helpful. It was also a great honor to receive the Governor’s Business Ambassador Medal from Governor Scott. We were pleasantly surprised by the information and resources provided by Enterprise Florida and look forward to collaborating more with them to help in our growth. We hope to expand to new markets such as Turkey and Israel and the Middle East. Overall this was an amazing experience we hope to repeat in the near future.”
Rick Cunliffe, CEO of Discovery Aviation, said, “Without the support of Enterprise Florida, we would not have attended the show. For small businesses it’s a major challenge to fund attendance at the major airshows. The grant provided by Enterprise Florida was instrumental in securing export orders and opportunities leading to an expansion of jobs in our company.”
Mauricio Mendoza, Marketing Manager for Pan American Tools Corporation, said, “We are a small company that cannot on its own have access to the opportunities and resources we get through Enterprise Florida to exhibit at shows like this. Not only does the grant money allow us to have access to a booth at the show, but also to network with high-level executives and government officials to better position our name and our brand. The show was great as it allowed us to generate new contacts not only in Europe but also in Asia, Russia and North Africa – all places where aviation is booming. It also gave us the opportunity to meet face-to-face with current European customers for the first time. This will help us enhance our business relations and grow our market share.”
International trade and foreign-direct investment accounted for about one-sixth of the state’s economic output last year and supports an estimated one million jobs. Florida continues to have the highest trade surplus among all states, with total trade exports plus imports hitting a record of $162.2 billion. Florida has a number of strengths to leverage, including one of the fastest-growing international economies, strong air and seaport infrastructure, and a large and well-qualified multicultural workforce.更多的了解双方ise Florida’s export assistance programs.
