How TIKD is Revolutionizing the Ticket Industry

Before the red and blue lights flash in the rearview mirror, you hear the shrilling sound of a siren. Busted! You just got caught speeding and cannot talk your way out of this ticket. Unfortunately, you are facing hundreds of dollars in traffic fines and acquiring points against your license.

Regardless of industry, failed processes share similar characteristics, traits and qualities. “I am agnostic to industry,” Chris Riley, Founder and CEO of TIKD, said. “For me, it is finding inefficiencies and discovering solutions.”

After getting caught in a speed trap in Miami, Chris wanted to fight his traffic violation without the hassle of hiring a lawyer and spending hours in traffic court. The inefficiencies he encountered led Chris to develop TIKD, a Miami-based technology startup using data analysis to fight traffic fines. “Prior to launching the company, I had no experience or expertise in the traffic ticket world,” Chris said. “But, I understood different data analysis methods and unique solutions to ineffective processes.”

The Cost of a Ticket

National statistics indicate 90 percent of drivers choose to pay traffic fines because challenging the ticket can be time consuming, expensive and stressful. Additionally, paying the fine leads to a tarnished driving record and increased insurance costs.

As a market disruptor, TIKD seeks to alleviate the hassles, difficulties and inefficiencies Floridians often experience with traffic violations. “In Florida, the average traffic ticket costs approximately $220,” Chris explained. “Additionally, ticket holders must pay within 30 days. If tickets are not paid within the statute timeframe, the cost increases and a license is suspended. This is often the lion’s share of the average person’s discretionary income. Paying an unexpected traffic ticket on a small budget within that time frame is challenging.”

A Game of Chance

TIKD analyzed government statistics on traffic violations to understand the traffic ticket process.
Chris realized not many traffic tickets hold up to the scrutiny of the court system. The inefficient process was ultimately formulaic and predictable. He analyzed the information and created a system based on scale and law of large numbers. This allowed all customers to benefit from the average ticket dismissal rates and evade the game of chance. “Since we handle numerous cases, we can afford the randomness,” Chris said. “We understand that we will win some and lose some, but over time achieve the average result. We hope individuals will view this web-based app as a cheaper, simpler alternative to just paying the ticket.”

Stress Free App

“We created the app with all the efficiencies and simplicities of paying your ticket, while giving you the savings of challenging the ticket and opportunity to avoid points on your license,” Chris explained. “Drivers pay the traffic violation on their phone or computer in two minutes or less. We hire a lawyer to appear in court on your behalf. You do not have to complete any other responsibilities. If points are assigned to your license, we will pay the fine and refund your money.”

In May, TIKD launched BetterPay, an alternative payment plan allowing customers to pay ticket violations over two months. Customers pay 50 percent of the ticket upfront, followed by two additional installments in 25 percent increments. Users simply select to pay in full or use BetterPay at checkout.

Speeding tickets are not the only traffic violations TIKD fights. It tackles violations such as running a stop sign or having a broken taillight. It does not advocate for drivers with speeding tickets exceeding 30 miles per hour over the limit. Additionally, TIKD will not assist with DUIs.

Competing Against a Mindset

TIKD面临的唯一竞争是那些支付交通罚单的人的心态和长期行为。“我们是唯一一家成功完成我们工作的公司,”克里斯说。“TIKD是一种新的商业模式。”

国家推出

“The number of requests we receive has been overwhelming,” Chris said. “We currently have 50 employees in marketing, development and customer service. As our client numbers increase, we will grow our workforce.”

TIKD is now available in 21 Florida counties with plans for a full national rollout by Quarter 3 of 2017. “TIKD is not meant to be just a Florida startup company,” Chris said. “Our headquarters are located in Miami, Florida. We will expand into multiple states before the end of summer. Our goal is to be a national company by the end of the year.”

TIKD has only run into one roadblock since its launch; people believe it is too good to be true.
